In Practice

Grade 5 mathematics is the framework’s first public field lab—not the whole framework. It is where the Still Point is being tested against the everyday complexity of teaching, learning, access, and evidence.

The work begins with the grade-level destination. Evidence is then used to find the earliest condition that makes meaningful movement possible, choose an aligned instructional move, and build a bridge forward without lowering the destination.

The field lab asks educators to:

— preserve the grade-level goal

— identify the actual access condition

— choose the smallest aligned instructional move

— implement it through Tier 1 instruction, specially designed instruction, and classroom practice

— review the ripple and return to new evidence

Public examples will show the decision process and the learning design. They will not include student records, IEP evidence, private trackers, or identifiable learner information.
